Rescore
How to Rescore an application and what does it do?

Rescore Feature Overview

Introduction and Summary of Rescore

The Rescore feature provides a powerful tool for reviewing and refining fraud risk evaluations. It allows users to:

  1. Refresh Scores: Obtain the most current application fraud scores by leveraging the latest information in SentiLink's system. For example, if a score was initially generated on January 1, and new activity occurred on January 5, rescoring the application on January 6 will include all updates through January 5.
  2. Conduct "What-If" Analysis: Test various scenarios by modifying one or more pieces of application information, such as secondary contact information, family members, or historically linked data, to evaluate how changes might affect the fraud score.

Using the Rescore feature does not update or alter the original record within the SentiLink cluster. This capability is designed to explore alternative scenarios, reassess applications, and test modified applicant information without impacting the original data. Rescoring generates scores based on the latest insights available in the system.

How to Use the Rescore Feature

  1. Access Rescore:
    • Navigate to the RiskOps page on the SentiLink Dashboard.
    • Open an application and locate the Rescore button at the top right corner of the page.
  2. Refreshing Scores:
    • Click the Rescore button without modifying the application data.
    • The system will return updated scores, incorporating the latest data SentiLink has collected.
  3. What-If Analysis:
    • Modify any PII fields (e.g., name, address, phone number) within the Rescore interface.
    • Submit the changes to generate hypothetical scores based on the updated input.
  4. Review Results:
    • Compare the new scores with the original ones to make informed decisions regarding the application's risk level.

Best Practices

  • Utilize Regularly for High Volatility Identities: Rescore applications for identities tied to many alternative phones, addresses, emails, etc.
  • Explore Alternative PIIs Using What-If Analysis: Simulate scenarios with different applicant information to determine how changes impact fraud scores, particularly for cases with multiple PII associations or potential typos.

FAQs

Q: Does Rescoring affect the original application data?
A: No, rescoring does not modify the original application data. Changes made during Rescore are temporary and used solely for generating one-time scores.

Q: How can I save a Rescore to the application cluster?
A: Rescore results cannot be saved to the application cluster. To save a score, use the Manual Scorer feature in the dashboard.

Q: Why did the score change significantly even though nothing seems different about the applicant?
A: Rescoring calculates a score as if the application were submitted today. Even if no visible data has changed, the score can fluctuate based on how the PII (e.g., email, phone, address) has been used in other applications or by other identities since the original scoring date, whether the applicant has recently deceased, or an eCBSV validation has recently passed or failed.
